| Hash Bash - Ann Arbor/hybrid 4/3 SATURDAY, APRIL 3, 2021 AT 12 PM EDT Since 1971, marijuana advocates have protested on the Diag at the University of Michigan on the first Saturday in April. The rally as well the Monroe Street Fair that follows Hash Bash was canceled and replaced by an online event in 2020. The 2021 hybrid event is scheduled for April 3 on the Diag as well as online. Organizer Adam Brook: "The 50th Annual Ann Arbor Hash Bash will take place at high noon on the Diag at the U of M. We're asking people to mask up or stay socially distant. It will be an old-school smoke-in without a sound system. The University is not giving out sound permits." More info: https://www.facebook.com/events/420133312530967/ WHAT IS HAPPENING THIS YEAR? THERE ARE TWO EVENTS. One event is billed as Hash Bash, a live protest on the DIAG by former Hash Bash emcee Adam Brook. This is an in-person event and Adam encourages folks to wear masks and observe social distancing. The DIAG is 250,000 square feet, so there should be plenty of room for attendees to safely social distance.
